We chose to focus on Jericho Lumumba. Being residents of this area we are faced with the challenge of finding better jobs for the youth. Most of Jericho residents live in extreme poverty, earning less than a dollar a day. Unemployment rates are high, especially among youth.
The effect of this is that they end up engaging in crime and drugs; an outcome that is far from ideal.
Through this program we got to study this issue from a complexity perspective and design systemic solutions to the problem of youth unemployment in our local neighborhood. We sort to design different activities to engage the youth that would actually bring yields to them.
